Company Name: W. W. NORTON & COMPANY
Description: The Astronomy and Chemistry team is seeking a highly motivated summer/fall 2015 intern to assist the Media Editorial Assistant. This internship is 3 or 4 days a week for three months, beginning mid-August. Responsibilities are varied, but will include proofreading and editing, compiling art-logs, and critiquing author videos and animations. This is an excellent introduction to the publishing industry as a whole, and academic publishing in particular.
Length of Internship: 3 months 20 hours per week
Requirements: Ideal candidates are strong writers that have excellent proofreading skills and an eye for detail. Subject matter knowledge is helpful, but not necessary. Furthermore, candidates must be willing to learn new programs and skills on the job, must be self-starting, and must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office. While specific work hours are flexible, interns must be available to work 20 hours per week. Juniors, seniors, and recent graduates with an interest in academic publishing are preferred.
Location: New York, NY
Payment: $8.75/hour
