Description: Augsburg Fortress Publishers is a multimedia company, comprised of three talented, creative sub-divisions: Augsburg Fortress, Fortress Press, and sparkhouse. We are the Publishing House of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America (ELCA), and together we create books, bibles, and videos that renew Christian life and community. Augsburg Fortress Human Resources is seeking an HR intern who is ready to create new resources, inspire other interns, and grow as a professional this summer, 2016.

This paid position will offer unique exposure to hands-on learning opportunities in many different areas of the Human Resources field, including training and program development, staffing and recruitment, engagement and corporate branding, benefits, and corporate wellness. The HR intern will work closely with all members of the HR team, and will report to the Director of Total Rewards.

As a Human Resources Intern, you will be responsible for assisting with the staffing and on-boarding process of the other Augsburg Fortress summer interns. You will be a key coordinator for the 2016 summer internship program, with responsibilities including event scheduling, budgeting, and a strong emphasis on communication. This individual is expected to communicate with and on behalf of all other interns, and maintain relationships and programming for Augsburg Fortress’ Intern Alumni Network. You will also be assisting with the coordination of employee wellness initiatives by helping to execute related companywide communications and events.

The Human Resources Intern will work closely with the HR supervisors, and can expect to gain exposure to the full-cycle recruiting process, including job posing, resume selection, interviewing, and offer preparation. You will also be exposed to data maintenance in systems such as ADP, and may have the opportunity to assist with the implementation of a corporate re-branding process. Other projects may include creating job descriptions, and additional administrative duties may be assigned.
Length of Internship: 12 Weeks - Summer, 2016
Requirements: • A minimum of 2-3 years of college coursework in human resources, or related fields
• The ability to maintain confidentiality and perform in a highly professional manner as a member of the human resources team
• Strong project management skills
• The ability to work independently on assigned projects using good judgement and organizational skills
• The capacity to forecast the needs of the human resources team
• Proven history of producing error-free work using current computer software
• A commitment to establishing and maintaining positive working relationships with co-workers, AF employees, contacts and other vendors
• Demonstrable interest in and ability to learn current and best practices within various areas of human resources
• An aptitude for creativity and conceptualization
• A commitment to Augsburg Fortress Publishers Mission, Vision, and Values
Location: The Augsburg Fortress paid internship program is robust, and includes flexible scheduling, time off, and no-cost gym access in the 510 Marquette fitness center! The beautiful, corporate, newly re-designed headquarters hosts 120 employees and is located in downtown Minneapolis with adjacent access to light Rail and MetroTransit bus lines, as well as skyway access to restaurants, banks, and shopping centers.
