Company Name: W. W. NORTON & COMPANY
Description: W. W. Norton, the largest and oldest publishing house owned wholly by its employees, is looking for a rising or current senior or recent graduate to intern in its Manuscript Editing Department. This internship will give you the opportunity to work on numerous college textbooks in a variety of ways—from learning the basics of proofreading and copyediting, to reviewing chapters and giving written feedback, to helping build manuscripts and cross-check galleys, proofs, and blues. It will also give you opportunities to work alongside project editors, developmental editors, and managing editors on college textbooks from a wide range of disciplines.
Length of Internship: 3 months, 20 hours per week
Requirements: Applicants should possess strong communication skills and be organized, detail-oriented, able to work independently in an office environment, and curious about the world of textbook or academic publishing.
Location: New York, NY
Payment: $9/hour
