Company Name: PEGASUS BOOKS
Description: We are an independent book publisher located in midtown Manhattan dedicated to the aim of publishing books that stimulate both the intellect and the imagination. We publish a wide range of fiction and nonfiction — including history, philosophy, memoir biography, literary fiction and noir thrillers — and we strive to reach readers around the world who share our conviction that good literature is essential to the health of our cultural life.

We are seeking a managing editorial intern for in our office in Manhattan. Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to: proofreading jacket copy and text proofs; trafficking manuscripts at various stages of the publishing process; inputting and tracking editorial changes; making internal system updates; and assisting with the creation of bound galleys.

A semester-long internship in our office will expose you to a wide range of publishing tasks and should give candidates a solid understanding of the in-and-outs of the publishing industry.
Length of Internship: June — August
Requirements: No previous publishing experience is required. You should have strong copyediting and proofreading skills, be detail-oriented and organized, and be able to juggle multiple projects under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Location: New York, NY
Payment: academic credit or travel stipend available
