| Title: | Editors for Volunteer-Operated Small Press |
| Description: | Unsolicited Press is seeking editors who are skilled in poetry, fiction, and nonfiction. You will be responsible for line edits, copy edits, and working on deadlines.
You must have some form of experience and we are willing to consider candidates with diverse professional backgrounds. If you don't know who we are, please check us out first. We do not pay salary or hourly. We are volunteers...so you should apply if you want to get in with a small press that has ten years of experience. You must love books and editing for the sake of editing. Editors are provided a copy of the book they edited as a show of gratitude. |
| Requirements: | - Ability to use a computer and understand how to use Google Drive
- Must have most up-to-date version of Microsoft Word and know how to use Track Changes. -Must be self motivated and able to keep track of weekly commitments in this virtual position. -Knowledge about and passion for the contemporary publishing industry. -Knowledgeable or willing to acquaint oneself with Unsolicited Press's style. -Excellent written and verbal communication skills. -Ability to work independently. -College degree preferred. Editors with diverse and wild backgrounds and happily wanted. You do not have a to a degree in English to be an excellent editor. -Must understand poetry...and by understand, we mean the ability to read it. -Proofread manuscripts currently in production following house style and Chicago Style. -Completing fact checks for manuscripts in production TIME COMMITMENT: Flexible Hours based on longer deadlines...project oriented. |
