Title: Assistant Editor, Acquisitions (G-03-16)
Description: Globe Pequot, located in Guilford, Connecticut, a trade division of Rowman & Littlefield is seeking an entry-level Assistant Editor for its imprint. This position will provide editorial and administrative support to the publisher and acquiring editors of non-fiction trade titles.


Duties and Responsibilities:

•Process contracts and prepare payment requests
•Manage editorial board agendas, packets for publisher, and distribution of meeting notes
•Draft select proposal memos for editorial board meetings
•Assist editors in compiling competitive research
•Prepare select manuscript transmittals for production, including assembling art, map, and permission logs, and consulting with production department on copyediting and manufacturing needs
•Write standard rejection letters
•Book department meetings and maintain weekly meeting schedules
•Coordinate and ship weekly deliveries to off-site departments
•Forward incoming mail, emails, and reader queries to appropriate author or editor
•Record end-of-month sales by editor
•Maintain editorial library
•Other editorial and administrative duties as assigned



Requirements: Required Skill Competencies:

•High level of organizational skills
•Extreme attention to detail
•Strong writing and project management skills
•Team oriented, but also able to work independently and efficiently
•Positive with multi-tasking ability
•Excellent written and verbal communication skills
•Proficient in Microsoft Office
•A strong desire to become an acquiring editor



Candidates should have a bachelor’s in English or equivalent work experience, and Editorial internship experience. Exceptional organizational skills and outstanding written and verbal communication skills are essential.
