Description: | Routledge/Taylor & Francis has a vacancy for the position of Editor for its monograph program in the areas of Education, Psychology, and Mental Health monograph program. The editor will develop a strong commercial strategy for the program in line with Routledge’s overall objectives, will grow the book offerings in these key subject areas, and will be aware of competitor strengths and weaknesses to take advantage of opportunities in the market. The role will involve close liaison with key Editors on the Education, Psychology, and Mental Health lists, with other monograph editors, series editors and book authors, and marketing, production, and sales colleagues.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and continuing to grow the Routledge Education, Psychology, and Mental Health monograph program. The editor will develop a strong commercial strategy for the program in line with Routledge’s overall objectives, will grow the book offerings in these key subject areas, and will be aware of competitor strengths and weaknesses to take advantage of opportunities in the market. The role will involve close liaison with key Editors on the Education, Psychology, and Mental Health lists, with other monograph editors, series editors and book authors, and marketing, production, and sales colleagues. The position will involve frequent conference and campus travel throughout the United States. The ability to work towards demanding targets and manage a high volume of projects is essential. DUTIES: • Meet demanding annual commissioning and revenue goals • Meet annual frontlist plans, working with the editorial assistant to ensure that manuscript submission and production and publishing deadlines are met • Extensive research of the Education, Psychology, and Mental Health markets through campus trips and conference attendance • Close liaison with the US Senior Editor to develop and maintain strategy for the Education, Psychology, and Mental Health lists as a part of the overall strategy of the team • Close liaison with authors, series editors, and editorial, production, marketing, and sales colleagues QUALIFICATIONS: • At least 2 years’ experience as an Editorial Assistant or Development Editor; experience as an Associate Editor or Commissioning Editor would be an advantage • Must be a self-starter who can work independently, while liaising effectively with colleagues across teams • Excellent written and verbal communication skills • Highly organized and capable of juggling a high volume of projects • Financial focus and ability to budget and analyze financial data • Strong ability to prioritize demanding workload under pressure • Strong word processing, spreadsheet, and database skills • A background in Education, Psychology, or Mental Health is not essential, but would be an advantage The specific statements shown in each section of this description are not intended to be all-inclusive.
