For over 50 years, Fortress Press has been a pioneer in religious scholarship, publishing in biblical studies, theology, and Christian history. Fortress Press is a dynamic sub-division of 1517 Media and publishes for two markets; higher education and trade/consumer. We are currently seeking an Assistant Product Marketer for the higher education market. This position will work to grow existing relationships and build new relationships with faculty and decision makers at seminaries, colleges, and universities in order to secure classroom use of textbooks, reference works, and other educational materials, that ultimately achieves sales goals. Create & Inspire The Assistant Product Marketer will: • Act as the primary contact, and implement personalized follow-up strategies, with faculty and decision makers to facilitate classroom adoptions. • Maintain and build knowledge of all Fortress Press products, services, and market trends to identify appropriate marketing initiatives. • Gather and channel feedback from customers and bring deep market insight to the Education Team to aid in product development and marketing strategies. • Track and document results to measure performance as well as to increase overall effectiveness of tactics. • Seek continuous improvement in sales strategies and creativity used to identify and reach bulk sales and textbook adoption markets. • Coordinate desk, exam and review copy processes. • File all book reviews and post reviews as appropriate to the web and social media sites. • As directed by the Marketing Manager, coordinate with IT and design any new websites or pages as necessary. • Act as a proofer for all marketing pieces as appropriate. Seeking Assistant Product Marketers With: • Knowledge of higher education and religious book markets and/or academic publishing. • The ability to communicate effectively with faculty and administrators to engage them with Fortress Press products. • The ability to think creatively and to apply marketing principles to Fortress Press marketing tactics. • The ability to maintain relationships with external and internal stakeholders. • The ability to work in an environment of change, seeking continuous improvement, and industry leadership. • Skills in using personal computers and related software, including Outlook, Excel, Word, basic HTML, and contact management software. • Strong proofreading and time-management skills. Connect The Assistant Product Marketer will work closely with the Marketing, Sales, Product Development, Customer Service, IT, and Design teams. They will report to the Marketing Manager.
