Title: Marketing Director, Algonquin Young Readers
Description: Algonquin Young Readers seeks a marketing director for this small, young imprint with a big reputation for publishing award-winning, acclaimed books of enduring quality for young readers. AYR books include novels for newly independent readers, timely crossover fiction, and topical narrative non-fiction — all distinguished by great writing, absorbing stories, and unforgettable characters. For this list of 12 – 15 original titles a year and their associated reprints, the marketing director will have the following responsibilities:

• Develop and coordinate execution of overall marketing strategy to budget
• Represent division both internally and within industry
• Oversee development and creation and production of all advertising and promotion materials
• Prepare pitches for key acquisitions
• Assist with School and Library marketing, including developing strategy, creating materials, and managing budget
• Create materials for seasonal internal meetings, oversee planning and presentation for seasonal sales conference, and present at designated meetings
• Develop with publisher author/agent best care practices, such as marketing plan check-ins and recaps
• Supervise shared assistant and marketing intern on marketing responsibilities
• Supervise publicity assistant on social media
Requirements: Position requires a bachelor’s degree; minimum 7 years experience in children’s book marketing including staff management experience; excellent written and verbal communication skills; strong industry contacts; and a proven ability to manage and oversee many projects simultaneously on time and within budget.
