Title: Editorial Director, Aladdin Books
Description: The Editorial Director will work in conjunction to the VP, Publisher to oversee and further develop the list of commercial fiction and non-fiction focusing on middle grade and picture books. Aladdin publishes around 200 titles a year including paperback reprints. The Editorial Director will be responsible for editing 10 – 15 titles a year, while also supervising a portion of the editorial staff and serving as a backup to the Publisher. Candidate will be responsible for maintaining and expanding the existing roster of talent, mentoring the junior staff, presenting at various sales meetings, maintaining production schedules, liaising with other departments, and attending various conferences to represent the imprint.
Requirements: 10 years minimum experience in children's publishing. Management experience and strong presentation skills needed. Candidate should have familiarity with all ages and formats of children’s publishing, a strong grasp on budgeting and the financial aspects of the industry, and a sense of current market trends. Established contacts within the agent, author and illustrator community a must.
