Description: The State University of New York (SUNY) System Administration seeks a strategic and visionary Director of SUNY Press who will set a forward course to maximize existing strengths; identify new opportunities for growth and collaboration, particularly in today’s evolving open landscape; and leverage SUNY Press’s distinct role as part of the largest comprehensive system of public higher education in the United States.

With over fifty years of publishing excellence and a backlist of nearly 6,000 titles, SUNY Press is an acclaimed international publisher with historical strengths in Asian studies, education, gender studies, philosophy, political science, and religious studies. SUNY Press is home to the Excelsior Editions imprint, publishing works that celebrate the history and culture of New York State, and has growing lists in film/media studies, Indigenous studies, Latin American / Latinx studies, and LGBTQ studies. Capitalizing on the latest advances in digital communication, SUNY Press has an annual output of 150 titles per year and publishes five journals.
SUNY’s sixty-four college and university campuses are located within thirty miles of every home, school, and business in the state. The SUNY System serves more than 1.4 million students annually, employs over 90,000 faculty and staff, and connects more than three million SUNY alumni around the world. SUNY oversees nearly a quarter of academic research in New York. Its students and faculty make significant contributions to research and discovery, contributing to a $1.6 billion research portfolio.
