| Title: | Associate Editor, Adult (Food & Drink) |
| Description: | The Associate Editor's responsibilities will include working with the author (or writer) to ensure that manuscripts meet the accepted editorial standards in terms of content, scope, development of the subject, organization, and accuracy.
The position will require formal presentations at key meetings, such as at Pub Board and Season Launch. The Associate Editor will interface with the Sales and Marketing departments and provide information as needed; developing and managing relationships with key authors and literary agents. Day-to-day responsibilities will also include: • analyzing market trends • pursuing new authors and book projects • evaluating book proposals submitted by literary agents • presenting and costing new projects • negotiating deal points for new projects • editing manuscripts • serving as internal champion for projects acquired by the Adult Editorial team |
| Requirements: | • 3-4 years experience in trade publishing
• Must be detail-oriented • Must be able to work independently and as part of a team • An enthusiastic and flexible outlook is essential • Must be able to meet deadlines while juggling a number of simultaneous tasks • Strong interest in lifestyle categories, particularly in Food & Drink |
