Established editorial development team based in New York and Los Angeles. We create teen, middle grade, and adult books, television and film pitches, from proposal stage to bookshelf or screen. Please find more information about us at glasstownentertainment.com. About You: A creative self-starter with 2-4 years of editorial publishing experience. Previous bosses have described you as a Superstar; you’re an independent thinker and a committed team player. You’re a voracious reader and talented editor with a passion for commercial lit for young people, teens and adults. And, of course, you have ideas coming out of your ears. Applicants must be comfortable working remotely and, weekly, in-office in New York and Brooklyn. Job Description: • Become primary editor on 6-8 projects per year with a focus both on large structural edits and nuanced line-editing. • Pitch and develop original IP concepts from scratch; participate in brainstorms and intense editorial development process • Act as the primary liaison to the editorial, publicity, and marketing teams of publishing imprints • Pursue celebrity and brand collaborations • Scout pop culture and the marketplace for new ideas and trends • Represent Glasstown at major publishing conferences • Recruit new authors and maintain relationships with old ones • Read extensively for comparison titles and market up-and-comers • Strategize on promotional opportunities to grow our brands • Write copy for sales materials such as catalogs and book jackets as needed |
Requirements: | Required Skills / Knowledge:
• Knowledge and experience of the children’s and teen publishing markets • Experience, skill, and comfort with line-editing • Driven and self-motivated, detail-oriented; growth-focused and open to feedback • Comfortable in fast-paced environment; ability to work independently • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and in particular, tracked changes • Proficiency in all publishing-related cycles and terminology • Genuine interest in popular culture, online fandoms, and the book world • Excellent verbal and written communication skills • Established relationships with agents, writers, and other industry contacts a plus • Interest in TV/Film adaptation a plus Salary and Title: Negotiable based on experience.
