Title: Senior/Executive Editor-LBYR
Description: SUMMARY
Little, Brown Books for Young Readers (LBYR) is seeking an ambitious, entrepreneurial senior or executive editor to join our team. As a boutique division within a big 5 publisher and a division of Hachette Livre, the third largest publisher in the world, LBYR is committed to growing our business in exciting new directions. The Senior/Executive Editor will acquire and cultivate new talent as well as grow existing author brands across all categories – picture book, middle grade, young adult, graphic novel, fiction and nonfiction.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
-Acquire and/or edit 10-15 books a year and manage all aspects of publication from manuscript to published book
-Collaborate with Design, Marketing, and Publicity to create compelling package and clear market positioning
-Work with Finance, Production, and Sales to produce P&Ls that achieve sales and profitability targets
-Explore and propose innovative publishing models
-Represent LBYR at trade shows, conferences, and industry events
Requirements: KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED:
-Minimum of 7 years of children’s book publishing experience,
-Proven ability to identify titles with potential and position them to stand out in a competitive market
-Strong knowledge of the retail and school/library markets
-Excellent project management-skills
-Excellent written and verbal communication skills
-Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with authors, artists, agents and HBG team in US and with our international affiliates
-Solid Word, Outlook, Powerpoint, Excel, and Bookscan skills
