Title: Children’s Editor
Description: Workman’s Children’s department, home of blockbuster brands Brain Quest, Big Fat Notebook, and Paint-By-Sticker, is looking for an editor. The candidate should have at least five years’ experience in children’s editorial. Educational publishing experience and familiarity with early elementary-through-high school curriculum preferred. Candidates of color encouraged to apply.

This is an exciting opportunity to help us grow our existing brands and create new ones. We’re looking for someone with a fresh perspective who can generate surprising ideas for both our trade and educational businesses.

RESPONSIBILITIES
• Manage 6 to 10 editorial projects a year, which might include board books, workbooks, card decks, puzzles, and curriculum-based study guides
• Review and revise concepts, outlines, and manuscripts
• Collaborate with design team to develop look and feel for each project
• Brainstorm ideas for new products
• Work with outside vetters and subject matter experts to ensure highest educational standards
• Meet all internal and external deadlines
• Support Senior Editor
• Possible attendance at relevant conferences
 
QUALIFICATIONS
• 5+ years of children’s editorial experience
• Excellent editorial skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication
• Comfortable with the MS Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat
• Familiarity with the Adobe Creative Suite a plus
 
Other:
• Experience generating IP a plus
• Strong problem-solving skills
• Strong time-management skills
