Title: ACQUISITIONS EDITOR, COMPUTER SCIENCE
Description: Leading New York-based technology Association and Scholarly Publisher is seeking a full-time Acquisitions Editor to identify, acquire, and manage new scholarly and practitioner-oriented publications in the area of Computer Science for the Association’s diverse international readership and authorship of researchers, educators, practitioners, and students.

Main responsibilities include generating evidence-based ideas and proposals, conducting market research, community outreach, working closely with the Association’s management and volunteer governance structure to evaluate proposals, and ultimately launching and managing new publications to help grow and strengthen the Association’s publications program in a way that is consistent with the best practices and reputation of the Association for excellence. The Acquisitions Editor will also be responsible for managing and growing the Association’s existing scholarly books and conference proceedings programs.
Requirements: Qualified candidates will have a minimum of five years’ experience as an acquisitions editor at a scientific or technology focused Association or Scholarly Publisher with a proven track record of identifying, launching, and managing high quality peer reviewed journals, scholarly books and monographs, and conference and reference publications. Experience with computer science publication is preferred, but not required.

The successful candidate will be highly results driven, experienced, have excellent written, communication, and presentation skills, collaborative, and have a proven ability to work independently and as a member of a focused team. The ability to thrive in a forward thinking, progressive, and international community and travel a minimum of 8-12 weeks per year (post pandemic) is a must. The position will be based in person at the organization’s New York City headquarters.
