Title: Production Editor, Workman Publishing
Description: Workman Publishing is looking for an experienced Production Editor to work on both books and calendars in our collaborative, team-oriented environment.

Principal responsibilities

- Managing each stage of the book and calendar process from manuscript to release of files to the printer using electronic workflow
- Hiring freelance copyeditors, proofreaders, and indexers, and overseeing their work
- Routing pages, covers, and other associated assets
- Copyediting and proofreading promotional materials related to books and calendars
- Collating corrections and addressing style queries
- Maintaining high levels of accuracy throughout each project
- Collaborating with colleagues both within the managing editorial department and throughout the company

Qualifications

- 3+ years production editorial or managing editorial experience
- Experience using Microsoft Word and Adobe Acrobat
- Ability to work on complicated, art- and design-heavy books
- Ability to work well under pressure in a deadline-driven environment
- Strong copyediting and proofreading skills
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills and the ability to prioritize and multitask
- Comfort working independently and also as part of a team
- Excellent communication skills
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to evaluate freelancers’ work
- Experience coding and preparing manuscripts for typesetting
- Awareness of current trends in language and evolving industry standards
- Fact-checking experience a plus
- Calendar experience a plus
- Fluency in Spanish a plus

Requirements:
Company: WORKMAN PUBLISHING
Location: Work is remote until mid-September, when you would be expected to work from our New York City office at least two days a week.
