Production Assistant |
| Description: |
This position is responsible for the layout of book and journal pages, the creation of figures and tables for those pages, the design and layout of certain marketing pieces and book covers, and for communicating with printers of books, journals and marketing pieces. The Production Assistant will typeset pages and create art for book and journal projects; maintain specification sheets for books and journals; provide postscript files to printers of all completed projects; review printer proofs on selected projects. Knowledge of design and layout of small marketing pieces as assigned. The Production Assistant will build and maintain a wide network of freelance designers and typesetters who can meet the needs of Health Administration Press in a cost-effective and high-quality fashion. Other miscellaneous activities include; maintenance of the electronic book files, supplies and coverts images and files into the appropriate format, and extracts text from electronic desktop publishing application files for new text additions. |
| Requirements: |
Bachelor’s Degree in graphic design, or related field. Minimum of one year in typesetting/desktop publishing. The candidate must be computer literate and Macintosh proficient with the ability to use word processing software (Microsoft Word) and have knowledge of Quark, Illustrator, Photoshop, PageMaker and Acrobat. The Production Assistant should have knowledge of printing process and have project management experience. Successful candidate will have strong customer service and team orientation with strong verbal communication skills. |
