| Description: | Augsburg Fortress Publishers is a multimedia company, comprised of three talented, creative sub-divisions: Augsburg Fortress, Fortress Press, and sparkhouse. We are the Publishing House of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America (ELCA), and together we create books, bibles, and videos that renew Christian life and community. Augsburg Fortress’ Worship and Music Department is seeking an intern who is ready to edit resources, support team marketing tactics, and grow as a professional this summer, 2016.
This paid position will offer comprehensive experience in the areas of Worship, Music, and Congregational Life, and will allow for a unique, hands-on understanding of the Worship and Music team’s significance in the life of the wider church. The Worship and Music Intern will work closely with and report to the Senior Editor of the Worship and Music Team. As a Worship and Music Intern, you will be responsible for assisting with content editing and manuscript assembly, as well as file preparation of annual print, electronic, and online worship planning resources. You will be a key contributor to assessing the accuracy and completeness of existing metadata associated with various sundaysandseasons.com content sets, and will be tasked with revising metadata as necessary within the site’s Content Management System. This individual will assist with content and metadata uploading to sundaysandseasons.com as part of regular site enhancement and maintenance. On top of these editorial tasks, you will also assist with the development and execution of team marketing tactics (emails, webinars, web store improvements, social media, etc.). The Worship and Music Intern is an important part of the Worship and Music team, and will be expected to attend as many weekly team development/project management/ marketing meetings as possible, with respect to the internship programming schedule. |

| Requirements: | • A minimum of one year college education
• Proven skills with attention to detail • Demonstrable interest in and knowledge of the church year and Revised Common Lectionary • Strong writing and proofreading skills for content and grammar • The capacity to work with XML (some knowledge is helpful, but not required) • Proven basic familiarity with Lutheran liturgy and theology • Demonstrable familiarity with social media sites • Proven comfort working with online media and databases • Ability to read music (helpful) • Indicated familiarity with other mainline Christian organizations (helpful) • Knowledge of the ELCA and Lutheran heritage, organizational structures, and mission |
