Company Name: D.A.P./ARTBOOK
Description: ARTBOOK | D.A.P. is a distributor of books on modern and contemporary art, photography and design. In addition, we selectively publish photography and art books under the D.A.P. imprint, as well as groundbreaking books about architecture, design, and the environment under the Metropolis Books imprint. ARTBOOK also manages several museum bookstores including ARTBOOK @ MoMA PS1, ARTBOOK @ Walker Art Center, and ARTBOOK @ HAUSER & WIRTH.

As an intern at D.A.P. you will be exposed to both the contemporary art, architecture, and design worlds and an intimate, well-rounded view of the publishing industry. Interns must make a 3-month commitment of at least 2 days per week. Positions are available for academic credit and interns will receive complimentary art books.



Open Positions:
WEBSITE AND SOCIAL MEDIA INTERNSHIP
Intern will assist website editor with imaging and content gathering for artbook.com. They will also help schedule social media campaigns around events, new releases, art fairs and related press. Candidate must be fluent in Photoshop, and able to produce animated files for social media. Candidate should have experience with Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and HTML.

PUBLISHER SERVICES INTERNSHIP
Intern will assist in seasonal catalog production needs; correspondence on individual book submissions; digitizing of publisher contracts and sales reports; participation in weekly acquisition meetings. The Publisher Services intern will also assist with the production of sales materials in digital and physical formats (making book mock-ups, page layouts, and sales kits). Candidates should possess strong organizational skills, knowledge of contemporary art and photography, and experience in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat.

PUBLICITY INTERNSHIP
The publicity intern assists the publicity department with press outreach for D.A.P. publications. Daily tasks include maintaining a report of press activity for all D.A.P. distributed titles, building press releases for upcoming publications and events, excerpting reviews, assisting with mailings, and more. Candidates should possess strong communication and organizational skills; knowledge of Photoshop is a plus.

MARKETING INTERNSHIP
Intern will assist the Marketing Director with production of sales materials in digital and physical formats (making book mock-ups, page layouts, and sales kids) in addition to updating cover images for use in our printed catalog and online. Intern will assist with our advertisements in print/online publications, help prepare for publishing conferences and assist with building and updating contact lists. Applicants must have experience with Adobe Acrobat, InDesign, and Microsoft Office Suite. Experience with still life photography, database entry, and Mail Chimp are helpful.

CATALOG PRODUCTION
Intern will assist in the researching of new titles, writing copy for the DAP catalog, and proofreading. Candidates should possess strong writing skills, knowledge of art history and art publishing, and be comfortable with online databases.
The internship will allow candidates to develop and hone writing and communication skills; to learn about publishing in a range of disciplines (art, photography, architecture, design, art theory, literature); to acquire basic research skills; to gain familiarity with the worlds of contemporary art, photography, etc; and to become familiar with the mechanics of publication production.

Length of Internship: SPRING INTERNSHIPS: Running January to April.
SUMMER INTERNSHIPS: Running from May to August.
FALL INTERNSHIPS: Running from September to December.
Requirements: Qualifications and Requirements:
• Current college student or very recent graduate with background or interest in contemporary art and publishing.
• Must be detail-oriented, hardworking, and responsible.
• Writing skills and proficiency in Adobe programs are essential.
