Company Name: W. W. NORTON & COMPANY
Description: The college division at W.W. Norton & Company is seeking an intern from January to April 2020 to assist with digital media editorial projects in the College Psychology department. W.W. Norton’s College Psychology team is committed to developing high-quality and innovative learning materials for college psychology classrooms across the country and abroad. Interns play an active, hands-on role in various aspects of the editorial process for textbook publishing, in addition to gaining exposure to marketing, sales, design, and other integral components of academic book development.

Tasks may include:
• researching psychology experts and compiling a database of prospective editorial reviewers
• evaluating interactive activities, online assessment tools, and other digital learning materials to help editors and authors improve the quality of content
• testing digital teaching and learning products for functionality and quality assurance
• preparing and formatting early-stage electronic learning materials for eventual production
• preparing and formatting editorial reviews, to ensure that they are ready to send to editors and authors
• performing administrative tasks, such as organizing, maintaining, and archiving files
Length of Internship: 3 months, 20 hours per week
Requirements: Candidates must be organized, hardworking, able to work independently and efficiently in a fast-paced office environment, and enthusiastic about learning the ins and outs of digital media as it applies to college textbook publishing. Those who demonstrate an interest in psychology, education, and digital learning will receive special attention. Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel is essential. Specific hours are flexible, but interns must be available to work 3-4 days for a total of 20 hours per week over a three-month period. College juniors, seniors, and recent graduates preferred.

Payment: $15/hour
