Description: Goals/ Objectives of Internship:

1. To maintain a consistent Social Media Presence on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and Pinterest and to boost our presence on those platforms by increasing followers.

2. To boost our individual sales via social media platforms.

3. To boost our bulk sales via socal media platforms.

4. Help work on establishment of Gryphon e-commerce site.

5. Interns will be expected to draw up and track social media campaigns optimized for multiple platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter); track media hits; generate marketing materials (social posts, blog posts, flyers);

6. Ideal candidates should be familiar with various social media platforms (including, but not limited to, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Goodreads, Hootsuite, Linktree, and Shopify). Proficiency with Microsoft Office/Google Suite and a basic understanding of Adobe Photoshop/InDesign preferred.

5. In addition to regular conversations in the course of the internship, the opportunity for a focused one-on-one Zoom or phone interview regarding the Intern’s specific goals with Gryphon Co-Publisher, Dana Buchwald who also has experience working in the field of animal law.

6. In addition to regular conversations in the course of the internship, the opportunity for a focused one-on-one Zoom or phone interview regarding the Intern’s specific questions with Gryphon Co-Publisher and Founder, Emilie Buchwald, also the Cofounder and Publisher Emeritus of Milkweed Editions, one of the preeminent literary nonprofit presses in the nation.

Emilie is the winner of the National Book Critics Circle Lifetime Achievement Award, the McKnight Foundation Award and the Kay Sexton Award and has spent over 30 years in the publishing industry, including having authored several children’s books and a book of poetry.




Length of Internship: We want someone who can commit to the Fall 2022 Semester, with the possibility of an extension. Start date dependent on student.
Requirements: Qualifications:

*WE WANT A RELIABLE STUDENT WHO CAN COMMIT FULLY TO THIS INTERNSHIP, IDEALLY FOR SCHOOL CREDIT.

1. We are looking for a social media whiz who can help Gryphon break through on all Social Media Platforms.

2. Ability to get up-to-speed quickly on Gryphon’s mission, its titles, brand, and perspective.

3. Knowledge of and passion for animal welfare, animal rights, humane education, environmental issues specific to animals, education—specifically early childhood—and social emotional learning.

4. Knowledge of or ability to get up-to-speed quickly about organizations working in animal welfare, animal rights, humane education, social emotional learning (SEL), environmental education, and early childhood education.

5. Strong writing skills that are tailored to Gryphon’s aesthetic/attitude and social media marketplace.

6. Ability to increase brand awareness and sales via Social Media.

7. Ability to work remotely and independently.

8. Creative and strategic thinking.
9. Responsible individual who can be trusted with access to social media accounts.
Location: Remote About The Gryphon Press: Our mission is to publish beautifully illustrated children’s picture books about the vital issues that animals–domestic, wild, and farmed– face, and to present those issues in such a way that children gain insights into and develop empathy for every animal life. All our books are intended to illuminate the struggles that non-human animals face in modern society and to strengthen the human-animal bond.
