Description: Goals/ Objectives of Internship

1. Intern will help staff design and implement a fundraising/development campaign for our Spring 2022 book The Strength in Her Wings, written by New York Times best-selling author and Pulitzer Prize finalist Scott Weidensaul about bird migration and how children can help birds along the way, including issues of climate change.

2. Intern will help staff design and implement a marketing campaign for The Strength in Her Wings, including reaching out to media in podcasts, radio, magazines, influencers, and others.

3. Help support and maintain ongoing marketing campaigns for frontlist and backlist titles.

4. Intern will initiate and maintain Amazon A+ content for all titles.

5. Intern will initiate and maintain Amazon Paid Advertising for Jake and Ava and selected other titles.

6. Intern will manage content and mailing of Monthly Newsletter to Gryphon audience via EMMA platform.

7. Google Ad Words Campaign.

8. Other projects as assigned.

Emilie is the winner of the National Book Critics Circle Lifetime Achievement Award, the McKnight Foundation Award and the Kay Sexton Award and has spent over 30 years in the publishing industry, including having authored several children’s books and a book of poetry.

Length of Internship: We are looking for a summer 2022 intern to start in May through August with the potential to continue on if desired. Exact start date depends on student. We are happy to comply with requirements to receive college credit.
Requirements: Qualifications:

1 Ability to write pitch letters; research and update database marketing contacts for booksellers, librarians, teachers, bloggers and the media on EMMA ; assist in the distribution of sales materials and assist the marketing team with other day-to-day tasks and organizational needs.

2 Excellent writing and communication skills; strong attention to detail; ability to multitask and juggle multiple projects; self-starter; strong research skills; familiarity with social media platforms. Previous experience with publishing and content marketing is appreciated, but not required.

3 Ability to get up-to-speed quickly on Gryphon’s mission, its titles, brand, and perspective.

4 Knowledge of and passion for animal welfare, animal rights, humane education, environmental issues specific to animals, education—specifically early childhood—and social emotional learning.

5 Knowledge of or ability to get up-to-speed quickly about publishing, development strategies, organizations working in animal welfare, animal rights, humane education, social emotional learning (SEL), environmental education, and early childhood education.

6 Strong writing skills that are tailored to Gryphon’s aesthetic/attitude and social media marketplace.

7 Ability to work remotely and independently, creative and strategic thinking.
