About the internship W. W. Norton is looking for interns to participate in our twelve-week internship program. Our internship program provides participants with an engaging, supportive, and hands-on learning experience in publishing that includes brown bag lunch sessions and networking within the intern class. Your work if you become a Norton intern with the Chemistry team may include the following: • Researching market data using BMG, NAVSTEM, Salesforce, and other systems to identify potential sales targets for book review programs and digital media products • Preparing text manuscripts, art manuscripts, and art logs of books and media to head to production through the copyediting, proofreading, and compositor/typesetting stages • Expanding the outreach of our chemistry blog by helping recruit and manage authors/instructors to write posts and editing/prepping those posts to go live • Mapping questions and managing our author/reviewer teams for Smartwork • Tracking down and logging art for our organic chemistry resources • Assisting with various tasks related to the creation of media resources to accompany the third edition of our organic chemistry text, including a brand-new suite of videos and animations |

We are excited to add interns who bring diverse perspectives to Norton. The ideal candidate is curious, hardworking, and eager to learn more about the different facets of publishing. Here are some skills and qualities we look for in candidates: • You are a college junior, senior, or recent graduate. • You are eager to improve your verbal and written communication skills. • You enjoy collaborating and working in a group to solve challenges. • You have a passion for learning and ideas. • You have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook). • You are curious to learn about college textbook publishing (but are not required to have previous publishing experience). • You are interested in science education (but are not required to have a science background). Internship details • Interns are paid $15 per hour and work 20 hours weekly. • Internship period is twelve weeks from 9/27/21 through 12/17/21. • Our workday is 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time; specific work hours are flexible to accommodate an intern’s schedule. • This internship will be a mix of remote and in person, based in our Manhattan offices. • Eligibility to work with W.W. Norton & Company in the US is required. |
