About the internship W. W. Norton is looking for interns to participate in our twelve-week internship program. Our internship program provides participants with an engaging, supportive, and hands-on learning experience in publishing that includes brown bag lunch sessions and networking within the intern class. Your work if you become a Norton intern with the psychology editorial team may include the following: • Conducting research to expand our list of authors and reviewers in light of our diversity and inclusion initiative • Reading manuscripts, proposals, and proofs of Interactive Psychology: People in Perspective 2.0, Social Psychology, 6e, Cognition 8e, Psychology in Your Life 4e and Psychological Science 7e at various stages of publication to help editors and authors improve the quality of print and digital content • Compiling art logs, alt-text spreadsheets, graphic content folder and preparing manuscripts for reviews and production • Maintaining lists and databases of key information such as digital content, media contacts, and book review programs • Learning the basics of copyediting and proofreading • Working on digital resources such as InQuizitive and ZAPS 3.0 to make sure they are up to date and functioning properly • Contacting professionals in the psychology field to work with us as expert reviewers on our upcoming titles, as well as get feedback on chapter drafts for proposed textbooks |

We are excited to add interns who bring diverse perspectives to Norton. The ideal candidate is curious, hardworking, and eager to learn more about the different facets of publishing. Here are some skills and qualities we look for in candidates: • You are a college junior, senior, or recent graduate. • You are eager to improve your verbal and written communication skills. • You enjoy collaborating and working in a group to solve challenges. • You have a passion for learning and ideas. • You have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook). • You have an interest and desire to learn more about college textbook publishing. • You have an interest in Psychology (previous coursework in this field is a plus). Internship details • Interns are paid $15 per hour and work 20 hours weekly. • Internship period is twelve weeks from 9/27/21 through 12/17/21. • Our workday is 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time; specific work hours are flexible to accommodate an intern’s schedule. • This internship will be a mix of remote and in person, based in our Manhattan offices. • Eligibility to work with W.W. Norton & Company in the US is required. |
