Title: | Associate Editor - Digital |
Description: | Fast-paced educational publisher seeks an Associate Editor to work with nonfiction content for electronic/digital publishing program for grades K–12.
Responsibilities include content assessment, adaptation, and/or creation as well as editing, copyediting, and proofreading in an online environment. This full-time position comes with a complete benefit package, including medical, dental, 401k with matching employer contributions and generous paid time off. ***IMPORTANT: The Associate Editor will have a home office with very occasional travel to conferences or NYC for meetings. This position allows the employee to telecommute but it is permanent, full time employment with regular hours, Monday to Friday. Resumes from individuals looking for part-time work, contract positions, or flexible work schedules will not be considered.*** Starting salary range for Associate Editor is $40-$45,000 per year. |
Requirements: | - Exceptional editorial, communication, organizational, and proofreading/copyediting skills are a must.
- Experience editing in an online environment is essential. - Familiarity with HTML/XML, online content management systems, electronic product development, and national/state curriculum standards is a strong plus. - Candidates must be able to work independently and focus on both big picture and small details while working with tight deadlines on multiple projects. - Candidates must also have an understanding of the intersection of editorial and marketing functions, and be able comfortable interacting with customers as needed. - Three years of professional editorial work experience is required. - Candidates must be Mac and Excel literate and have a bachelor’s degree. - Candidates must be comfortable working autonomously as part of a "virtual" team. - Only individuals with exceptional discipline, motivation, work ethic, and telecommuting skills will be strong candidates for a remote position. |
