Title: Production Assistant

AMA seeks a Production Assistant to assist Director of Production & Senior Development Editor with various facets of working with Neuwirth & Associates on Production work for all AMACOM titles; and interface with other departments at AMACOM on Production tasks, helping track schedules and budgets.


Responsibilities:

Production-Editorial duties

--PRODUCTION-FINANCE assistance: Director of Production where appropriate: requesting estimates from outsource-production, requesting Purchase Orders from AMA Purchasing for cover and text printings; entering financial information into Great Plains database for 1st prints and reprints, processing invoices

--PRODUCTION-EDITORIAL assistance. Assist Senior Development Editor with transfer of Editorial files to outsource-production: tracking missing files, working with acquisitions editors, permissions checking

--PRODUCTION/ROUTING. Work closely with Neuwirth & Associates to route materials, request messengers, check proofs & jackets, answer queries, liaise between AMACOM Editorial/Marketing and Neuwirth to expedite flow of materials

--PROOFREADING: proofread various materials sent out for AMACOM titles by Neuwirth: final catalog, jacket comps posted by Creative dept, other sales and production materials

--EBOOK EXTRAS: assist Marketing Director & Senior Development Editor to compile & track Ebook Xtra text and schedules; work with Sales to make sure appropriate social media information is entered on Author bios in Ebook Extras and covers

--AMACOM ARCHIVE: Check final files & Upload to AMACOM Archive for all AMACOM titles

--PIM database: uploading copy to PIM database for all AMACOM titles

--LSI/POD. Assist Director of Production with LightningSource (LSI) print on demand: uploading files, tracking titles and schedules

--EBOOKS/CORESOURCE: Help Directors of Production and Marketing with Ingram’s CoreSource database, uploading files, tracking schedules, fielding correction and Amazon Rework issues



Copyright/CIP duties

--Applying for CIP data from the Library of Congress for all AMACOM titles

-- Register AMACOM books for copyright within 90 days of publication

-- Maintain records related to AMACOM copyright registrations and reconcile deposit account statements from the Copyright Office.

-- Send a copy of each published AMACOM book to the Library of Congress CIP Division.



Self Study Products/Courses

--Timely communication with customers and colleges about Self Study courses

--Coordination and grading of all tests

--Work w/ IT to provide files for titles that have electronic grading

--Prepare and process requests for certificates, working with Saranac Lake and Compliance Specialist


Requirements: Qualifications:
•BA/BS degree required.
•Previous work experience or internship at a publishing company or related business
•Proofreading and copy-editing experience preferred
•Software: good knowledge of Word, Excel and familiarity with databases.
•Excellent verbal/communications skills.
•Extremely organized and schedule conscious.
