Title: | Editorial Assistant |
Description: | Workman Publishing (workman.com), an innovative independent publisher of nonfiction books and calendars, seeks an editorial assistant to work with two senior editors.
Responsibilities include a range of tasks related to books and calendars—from tracking manuscripts through the editorial process to acting as point person with authors, agents, and different departments within the company—as well as administrative and clerical duties. The ideal candidate is an enthusiastic, industrious, highly organized, detail-oriented college graduate with the ability to work independently. Some related experience is strongly preferred, but equally valuable is an eagerness to learn and to hit the ground running. Candidate should be a dedicated reader of periodicals, blogs, etc., with an engagement with culture and trends. An interest in and knowledge of general adult nonfiction, lifestyle, humor, and self-help are essential. Strong writing, communication, and organizational skills are also required. Candidate must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and exhibit the ability to multitask and prioritize. Salary and title may be commensurate with experience. |
