Title: Production Editor (Project Basis)
Description: JOB DESCRIPTION – Production Editor: Yen Press
Hachette Book Group is seeking a Production Editor on a limited project basis to support Yen Press’s growing list of manga and light novels. The ideal candidate will possess a traditional production editorial skill set, as well as an interest in and knowledge of manga conventions.

Responsibilities:
-Oversee the proofreading of approximately 8–10 manga titles per month, including creating and updating schedules and hiring and supervising freelance proofreaders
-Oversee the copyediting and proofreading of translated Japanese light novels, including creating and updating schedules, XML styling all manuscripts for composition, and hiring and supervising freelance copyeditors and proofreaders
-Update in-house schedules in title management system as materials—manuscripts, page proofs, final files—are delivered
-Review and route cover and insert mechanicals and proofs, and review book blues for all projects
-Liaise with Editorial, Design, and Digital and Print Production regarding production schedules
Requirements: 3+ years’ experience in manga or book publishing, preferably in a production editorial capacity
Excellent organizational skills and ability to work well under pressure with tight deadlines
Proven copyediting and proofreading skills
Strong computer and Microsoft Word skills and proficiency with Track Changes
Knowledge of The Chicago Manual of Style
Knowledge of or interest in manga a strong plus
Knowledge of XML styling a plus
