Title: Designer - Starry Forest Books (Part-Time)
Description: Starry Forest Books is looking for a positive and talented designer to create covers and interiors for our children’s list, and marketing materials for our sales team.

Responsibilities
• Create art schedules and manage deliverables from concept to publication.
• Choose fonts and create page layouts.
• Correspond with clients to incorporate feedback.
• Provide art direction to illustrators and freelancers.
• Review illustrator portfolios and recommend illustrators for projects.
• Make recommendations regarding production specs.
• Prepare files for exiting to printers and coordinate with printers.
• Archive files according to publisher conventions.
• Create or assist in creation of marketing materials including catalogs and sell sheets.

Hours & Location
• Part-time
• Remote
• Best suited to a freelancer who can handle phone calls during the day with team members.

Requirements: Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree
• 2 years children's publishing experience required
• Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite
• Web design proficiency preferred
• Knowledge of typography, graphic design, and production
• Passion for children’s books and knowledge of the marketplace
• Excellent people skills for attending to client needs
• Strong aesthetic and the ability to communicate creative direction
• Highly organized and detail-oriented
• Positive, flexible attitude
