Title: Bilingual Chinese-English Editor (Remote Part-time
Description: Leading U.S. publisher of educational materials in the areas of Asian languages and cultural studies for the K-12 and higher education markets seeks experienced bilingual Chinese-English freelance editor. This is a remote role with flexible hours.

In this position, you will create and edit content for a variety of print and digital Chinese language learning materials. In addition to strong Chinese writing and editorial skills, a compelling candidate will have extensive experience working with young people in both China and the United States.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Write reading/listening passages, stories, lesson plans, exercises, rubrics, and other instructional content
• Edit content created by teachers and other writers as necessary to improve quality and ensure that project specifications are met
• Copy edit Chinese language content within a bilingual textbook context
Requirements: BA/BS degree, preferably in the teaching of Chinese as a foreign language
• Superior native proficiency (written and verbal) in Mandarin Chinese in addition to strong English language skills
• In-depth knowledge of current Chinese culture and Chinese youth
• Writing and editorial experience in world languages curriculum materials development, coupled with an understanding of the interests of both American and Chinese middle school and high school students
• Strategic and efficient in planning and executing to ensure consistent on-time delivery of assignments
• Well-developed communication skills for effective remote work
• Excellent writing, grammar, spelling, and proofreading skills, as well as accuracy and attention to detail
• Understanding of complex interdependencies among different book project components
• Strong MS Word, MS Excel, and Adobe Acrobat skills, with Photoshop experience a plus
• Knowledge of U.S. educational standards (ACTFL) and experience teaching Chinese in the U.S. classroom preferred, especially at the middle and high school levels
