Title: Editorial Assistant to Agent/CEO
Description: Seeking a detail-oriented, meticulous self-starter with a passionate interest in book publishing for this entry-level position based in NYC. Significant opportunity for promotion to an associate agent position after 2 years. You will provide all-around project support as you work alongside the agent/CEO and his associate agent as he procures clients, develops and edits proposals, negotiates deals, and handles the needs of a diverse list of high-profile authors, artists, and public figures. In addition to reading, assessing, and learning to develop and edit proposals, you will be responsible for all duties associated with being an assistant to a high-level executive, such as scheduling, drafting correspondence, light research, maintaining his calendar, answering his phone, creating monthly reports, and handling certain pan-agency administrative duties, including updating internal databases, processing royalty statements, and occasional mailings and filing. The salary is $45,000 and also includes benefits.

Positive energy, patience, reverence for quality, and impeccable writing, editing, and critical thinking skills are a must. Genuine interest in working on a variety of nonfiction topics including pop culture, memoir, current events, politics, history, and entertainment is essential. The ideal candidate will be able to manage a diverse set of responsibilities efficiently and effectively. BIPOC and LGTBQI+ identifying candidates strongly encouraged to apply.

Requirements: - Bachelor’s degree
- Critical thinking and exemplary writing skills a must
- Ability to multi-task
- Natural talent at problem-solving and follow through
- Excellent people and communication skills
- Very detail-oriented
- Genuine interest in nonfiction
- Must live in or be willing to relocate to NYC area (we are currently working remotely)
- Knowledge of Excel, Work, Outlook, and other Microsoft 365 programs
- Office/admin experience is not necessary but highly valued
- Publishing and/or agency experience is not necessary but highly valued
