Title: Children's Publicity Intern - Summer 2021
Description: Position Description:

Bloomsbury Children’s Books is looking for an organized, creative, and enthusiastic person to join our Publicity team as a Publicity Intern. This person will work with the Children’s Publicity Department on a wide variety of fiction and non-fiction titles, from picture books through young adult novels.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Assist publicists with writing press materials and pitch letters
• Manage online publicity, including maintaining blogger lists and databases, and managing NetGalley requests
• Work with publicists on review copy mailings and track publicity coverage
• Office maintenance including book ordering and upkeep of publicity databases
• Monitor the Publicity inbox for incoming emails
• Conduct research on media contacts, bloggers, bookstagrammers, and other publishing industry influencers
• Opportunities to take on other publicity projects may also arise.

Requirements: • Passionate about learning about publicity and publishing
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Must be detailed-oriented, well-organized, and able to manage multiple projects at once
• Experience in publishing preferred but not required
• Working toward 4-year degree – seniors preferred

We require a commitment of 15-20 hours per week for the entire internship term. Scheduling is flexible, but work should occur during standard business hours: Monday through Friday, 9 AM – 5:30 PM EST.

This position pays minimum wage ($15.00/hour), and candidates may wish to arrange for college credit for the placement to supplement.

Location: Please note that, due to COVID-19, this position will be working from home until further notice. Candidates must reside in CA, CT, FL, IL, NH, NJ, NY, PA, or VA, and work during our local office hours, Monday through Friday, 9 AM – 5:30 PM EST. The office might begin opening during the summer months, in which case you would be able (but not required) to work from the office on some days.
