Title: | Commercial Operations Assistant |
Description: | Candlewick Press, a leading publisher of books for children located in Somerville, MA, seeks a motivated administrative professional to join our talented team as a Commercial Operations Assistant. The assistant will be responsible for working with the Walker Books Group Foreign Rights team as well as helping to ensure key Candlewick data is accurate and complete across various systems.
The Commercial Operations Assistant will have a variety of responsibilities including supporting the efforts of the Walker Books Group Foreign Rights team by sharing marketing materials, author blurbs, and reviews with the Fiction Foreign Rights Manager and team; helping gather materials and entering copy in our database; assisting with any requests from the Foreign Rights team; and acting as support for a Candlewick-based FR Sales manager. Some of the responsibilities pertaining to metadata include: finalizing seasonal copy, for both print and e-books, in our database as well as in the system of our distributor, Penguin Random House; working with IT to upload excerpts for our fiction titles to PRH; conducting a regular audit of our cover images in PRH’s system as well as on candlewick.com for our print and e-books and work with IT to fill the gaps; updating copy with award information; sharing a seasonal grid with Contracts and Rights for an Insight check and updating the dates in PRH’s system once files are distributed; and helping with data projects. Operational responsibilities include: sending Happy Publication Day emails to our authors and illustrators; receiving author and illustrator biographies and submitting them to copyediting then uploading to our database; receiving, sharing and maintaining signed web disclaimers from authors and illustrators; helping with the seasonal Sales Conference prep; soliciting galley and promotional materials quantities from Sales and Marketing teams; and working with IT on videos to share with Sales and Marketing teams and upload to the corporate YouTube channel. |
Requirements: | • Excellent organizational and communication skills
• Extremely organized, attentive to details, and able to multi-task and prioritize • Proficiency with all Microsoft Office programs • Familiarity with databases • Collaborative Spirit |
