Title: Editorial Assistant / Agent's Assistant
Description: Seeking a Full-time Editorial Assistant to assist Senior Agent at a boutique literary agency, specializing in fiction, including commercial and upmarket genre fiction, along with elevated practical and narrative nonfiction. This is a full-time, entry level position presenting an opportunity to learn about the book publishing business, and related film, TV, and other media business. Remote work will be considered. Publishing needn’t be your ultimate career goal – it’s OK to admit that you are checking it out, and we would be delighted to show you why we love it, but ask that you commit to two years with us. Candidates should be mature, well-spoken, organized, with good judgment and strong writing skills, and most importantly, excited to help creatives and their partners bring amazing work into the world.
Requirements: Responsibilities:

- Provide administrative support, including answering phones, scheduling meetings, coordinating travel arrangements and general desk duties.
- Review and evaluate queries, proposals, and full manuscripts of existing and prospective clients, and prepare reader’s reports.
- Prepare submission lists and track submissions to editors and other buyers.
- Prepare agency, collaboration, nondisclosure agreements, and deal memos.
- Manage foreign rights inbox, tracking offers, requests, payments, and contracts.
- Review foreign contracts against boilerplates, with training and guidance provided.
- Engage with clients, editors, foreign rights agents, and colleagues across the representation process.

Requirements:

- Bachelor’s degree
- Excellent people and communication skills
- Keen interest in books and how they get made
- Critical thinking and exemplary writing skills
- Ability to focus on details, multi-task, and maintain a thoughtful organizational system
- Knowledge of Word, and Outlook; ability to learn Excel and other programs
- Self-starter who enjoys working both independently and as part of a team.
