| Title: | Social Media Associate - Pegasus Books |
| Description: | Pegasus Books is an independent book publisher located in midtown Manhattan dedicated to publishing books that stimulate both the intellect and the imagination. We publish a wide range of fiction and nonfiction — including history, philosophy, memoir, biography, literary fiction, and noir thrillers — and we strive to reach readers around the world who share our conviction that good literature is essential to the health of our cultural life.
We are seeking a part time social media associate for our office in Midtown Manhattan who can assist with creating content for our accounts on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Compensation is $500 a month. Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to: maintaining a Google spreadsheet of social media posts, coordinating posts via email with Pegasus team members, sharing significant publicity hits in a timely manner across platforms, and otherwise maintaining an active social media presence across Pegasus’s accounts. Work hours are very flexible and will likely not exceed 10 hours a week, but applicants need to be able to respond to email in a timely manner, and regularly check in to coordinate content on a daily basis. A position in our office will expose you to a wide range of publishing tasks and should give candidates a solid understanding of the in-and-outs of the publishing industry. We emphasize mentorship and education, with regular training sessions and one-on-one career coaching. We are looking for candidates eager to learn more about the world of books and publishing. |
| Requirements: | Previous social media experience is required, and preference will be given to candidates with exposure to the publishing industry and a familiarity with Pegasus titles. Applicants should be familiar with Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, and book blogs, with a strong understanding of current trends in publishing. If you own a professional-quality camera and/or have photography experience, this will be considered as well.
We are currently hybrid work from home and in person. Applicants must be able to come into the Pegasus office in Midtown Manhattan at least once a month to pick up books for promotional efforts. |
