Title: | Senior Acquisitions Editor |
Description: | Teachers College Press, a member of the Association of University Presses, seeks an experienced Senior Acquisitions Editor to lead content strategy and commission scholarly and professional titles in the field of education (primary focus in early childhood education). Responsibilities include:
• Manage content strategy and commission 25 frontlist titles per year • Solicit and evaluate new proposals for publication consideration • Manage pre-contractual workflow, including peer review, in-house evaluation, and presentation of proposals to Editorial Advisory Board • Prepare financial analyses for all commissioned works • Perform manuscript content evaluation and development to ensure quality control, alignment with target audience, and sales targets • Analyze and utilize sales metadata in list-building • Stay abreast of developments in field through relevant publications, online and traditional media outlets, conferences, lectures, and webinars • Maintain awareness of competitors' lists • Collaborate with academics and series editors to evaluate proposals and mss. and to develop the lists. • Coordinate content workflow with colleagues in acquisitions, marketing, and production to ensure successful frontlist strategy and rollout • Conference and occasional campus travel required Minimum qualifications: Education: Bachelor's Degree Experience: Ten years' experience in scholarly and professional book publishing.
