Title: Fiction Editor (remote)
Description: Annie’s Publishing is seeking an experienced Fiction Editor for our women’s fiction, cozy mystery, and romance series, with a focus on books that are wholesome, uplifting, and inspiring. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of an innovative and growing company.

The Fiction Editor will evaluate outlines and develop fiction manuscripts across a range of genres. The role includes building relationships with authors, narrators, and cover artists, and collaborating with other team members to help bring projects to completion.

Responsibilities:
* Reads and evaluates fiction manuscripts and proposals
* Works with authors on concepts, outlines, and revisions of fiction manuscripts, including developmental and line edits
* Maintains and updates series guides
* Creates memorable titles appropriate for the genre
* Develops cover art concepts and collaborates with freelance and in-house artists to create compelling cover artwork for each book
* Consults with the art and production departments on design and schedule of books
* Tracks manuscripts through all stages of editing, design, and production
* Prepares and reviews supplemental marketing materials as needed
* Writes captivating flap and marketing copy
* Manages select repackaging projects
* Keeps abreast of competitive titles and genre trends
* Completes special projects as assigned and provides assistance to other members of the editorial team
* As needed, assists the director with creation of new series settings, characters, and plots, helping to formulate author guide
* Performs other related duties, administrative tasks, and support functions as needed
* Handles daily correspondence, office work, phones, and attends required meetings

Requirements: * 2+ years of professional fiction editorial experience working for trade publishers
* Bachelor’s degree
* Experience in both concept development and line editing
* Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to multi-task and prioritize in a deadline-driven environment
* Exceptional communication skills, written and verbal
* Strong interpersonal skills
* Self-motivated and results-oriented
* Ability to work independently as well as in a collaborative environment
* Priority will be given to candidates with editorial experience in the cozy mystery, women’s fiction, and/or sweet romance genres.

*Full-time position. Open to remote candidates.
