Title: Literary Agency (Subsidiary Rights) Assistant
Description: Busy, mid-size literary agency in New York City seeks a new full-time assistant to the subsidiary rights director. Looking for someone detail oriented with great organizational and communication skills who wants to build a career in the publishing industry.

The ideal candidate will be well organized and comfortable communicating with clients and third parties. This individual will be responsible for various assistant tasks, including research, data entry, and contract processing. Candidates applying should be interested in learning about subsidiary rights including foreign and audio and about literary agenting.

The position is entry level and full-time. Remote and hybrid (2 days per week remote + 3 days per week in office in NYC) applicants will be considered.


Responsibilities include:
- Direct communication with clients and business partners
- Information gathering and drafting for foreign rights and audio catalogues
- Maintaining internal tracking systems for deals and contracts
- Data entry in various systems
- Processing and shepherding contracts between clients and publishers/co-agents
- Reading, reporting on, and responding to submissions from authors
Requirements: Qualifications
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, especially Word and ideally Excel
- Strong organizational, communication, and research skills
- Detail oriented
- Desire to learn and grow in the publishing industry
