Title: | Assistant to VP of Development and Book-to-Film |
Description: | Aevitas Creative Management is a full-service literary agency, home to more than twenty agents in six cities (New York, Boston, Washington DC, Los Angeles, London), representing scores of award winning authors, thinkers, and public figures.
Aevitas Entertainment is the new production company and sister company to Aevitas Creative Management, focused on developing and producing high-end film, television, documentary, podcast, and live stage projects based on books and IP. We are looking for a full-time Assistant to the Head of Development. This position is full-time and located in our NYC office. In this role you will serve as assistant to the VP of Development & Book-to-Film and support the film/tv department. You will be responsible for duties such as (but not limited to) managing phones, call sheet, and VP’s schedule. You will read and write coverage for new book submissions, assist VP in evaluating film/tv potential of new literary works. You will compose project submissions and be responsible for responding to all to incoming rights inquiries. You will read and evaluate backlist titles, assist VP and CE in devising strategy for individual book projects, and maintain all department grids. You will help manage and organize workflow by tracking progress of development projects, new book submissions, manuscript delivery dates, publication dates, and option expiration/renewal dates. You will help manage the in-house Business Affairs pipeline under supervision of CE and manage the entire payment process for all ACM film/tv deals. You will coordinate completion of the publisher release form. You will complete deal memos and coordinate author signature for final option-purchase agreements, and ensures buyer has all necessary documentation, including author W-9, to process payment. You will be responsible for creating invoices, tracking author payments, and chasing outstanding payments. The salary is $42,000 and benefits including health care and a 401k.
