Title: | Marketing Manager, Simon Element |
Description: | Simon Element, a new practical nonfiction imprint at Simon & Schuster, is seeking an experienced Marketing Manager to join their team. Founded in 2021, Simon Element publishes books addressing topics that are foundational to how we live—from the meals we eat to the relationships we nurture, the households we manage, and the goals we set and strive to achieve.
This is a high-growth opportunity to join a collaborative and engaging team on the forefront of non-fiction publishing. The Marketing Manager will own all aspects of marketing for ~4-6 title campaigns each season and will work directly with the Associate Marketing Director to build and execute the imprint’s marketing strategy across various channels. For their titles, the Marketing Manager will develop and execute plans that include: pre-order promotions and incentives, organic and paid social media campaigns, advertising, creation and distribution of swag and promotional materials, maintaining title budgets and more. The ideal candidate will have 3+ years of marketing experience and will be collaborative, curious and thoughtful. We are looking for someone who is interested in learning about new marketing channels and is eager to tackle challenges in creative ways. This person will take an active role in Simon Element’s social media strategy and will report directly to the Associate Director of Marketing. KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Developing and executing multi-channel marketing campaigns for ~4-6 titles per season, with an emphasis on digital and social media tactics • Implementing and optimizing paid advertising campaigns in collaboration with ad/promo team and the Associate Marketing Director • Handling author and agent relationships for each assigned titles, guiding them through campaign execution and best practices • Managing relationship with internal ad/promo team to submit, route and revise all designed assets • Collaborating with Associate Director and Marketing Assistant on social media strategy and content creation, including post calendaring, scheduling, and engagement • Working directly with Associate Director of Marketing to generate and maintain Simon Element’s roster of B2B brand partnerships • Coordinating with S&S corporate marketing on e-mail marketing strategy, content marketing, academic marketing, video production and social media promotions |
Requirements: | KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED:
• 3+ years of experience in marketing and book publishing, experience working across non-fiction categories a plus • Proven track record in generating and executing consumer-facing campaigns, digital marketing, and/or social media • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, to think critically and to set priorities and manage multiple projects simultaneously • Interest in exploring new trends, audiences, platforms, and marketing tools • Impeccable verbal and written communication skills with a keen attention to detail • Comfort in contributing to meetings and presenting to internal and external stakeholders, including prospective authors and literary agents • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite & Google Applications, as well as general computer skills • Proficiency in social media platforms, with an emphasis on Instagram & TikTok • Knowledge of Canva, Adobe Creative Suite a plus • Genuine interest in book marketing and publishing – with interest in wellness, culinary, self-help and mind, body, spirit categories a plus |
