Title: | Curriculum Editor, Workman Children's |
Description: | Workman’s Children’s department, home of blockbuster brands Brain Quest, Big Fat Notebook, and Paint-by-Sticker, is looking for a Curriculum Editor. This is an exciting opportunity to help us grow our existing brands and to create new ones. We’re looking for someone with a fresh perspective who can generate surprising ideas that are rooted in sound pedagogy and encompass fun, engaging, innovative instruction.
RESPONSIBILITIES Manage 6 to 10 editorial projects a year that include board books, workbooks, study guides, supplemental resources, digital support, and more Brainstorm ideas for new products and then develop them Collaborate with the design team to develop a fresh, unique look and feel for each project Review and respond to submissions Review and revise concepts, outlines, and manuscripts Prepare guidelines and work with writers to ensure adherence to brand identities and guidelines Work with outside reviewers and subject matter experts to ensure highest educational standards Work efficiently editing multiple projects while meeting tight deadlines Support the Senior Editor and the Executive editor Write catalog copy, marketing copy, title sheets, etc. |
Requirements: | QUALIFICATIONS
5+ years of children’s educational publishing experience or other relevant work experience preferred Strong editorial and project management skills Excellent written and verbal communication Deep understanding of curriculum standards, depth of knowledge assessment, grade-aligned instruction, and classroom practices Teaching experience a plus Comfortable with the MS Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat Familiarity with the Adobe Creative Suite a plus Other: Experience generating IP a plus Strong problem-solving skills Strong time management skills Passion for Workman’s mission to create high-quality, innovative, inclusive, empowering non-fiction and activity books for children.
