Title: Production Editor, Running Press
Description: Hachette Book Group’s Perseus division is seeking a Production Editor to manage the production of 25 original nonfiction titles per year from manuscript to bound book/ebook in the Running Press imprint. Boulder, CO location is preferred; other locations considered.

Responsibilities:

Manages 25 nonfiction titles per year from manuscript to bound book/ebook, including entertainment, mystical, gift, cocktail, and other heavily illustrated titles
Completes electronic manuscript preparation, including style coding
Hires and supervises freelance copyeditors, proofreaders, and indexers
Reviews copyediting, working in Word to reconcile copyediting and author markup, and reviews all stages of manuscripts, text proofs, and electronic blues
Copyedits and proofreads jacket and cover materials from original copy through final proof
Performs ebook quality review
Works closely with various in-house departments including editorial, design, and production regarding schedules and to anticipate and resolve problems; works with authors
Attends relevant department and interdepartmental meetings
Requirements: Qualifications:

3+ years relevant work experience, preferably in a production editorial capacity
Proven copyediting and proofreading skills and familiarity with electronic workflow
Strong computer/MS Word skills and knowledge of electronic copyediting and coding; proficiency with Track Changes a must
Knowledge of Chicago Manual of Style (16th and 17th eds.)
Effective organizational skills and aptitude for process development and innovation
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Detail- and accuracy-oriented with the ability to balance many projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment while maintaining high standards of quality

For CO Applicants: This position has a salary range of $48,000-$50,000. Salary can vary based on a number of factors including skills and experience — talk with your recruiter to learn more.
