Title: Spring 2023 Internship - Seven Stories Press
Description: Seven Stories Press is looking for a part-time intern who can work remotely and in our Tribeca NYC offices. Interns will work closely with a small, passionate staff, performing work in the editorial, publicity, marketing, foreign rights, sales, and production departments, depending on their interests and qualifications, and depending on the needs of each dept. We have a small children's list and a Spanish-language list, which might provide further opportunities. Within each department, interns perform a wide range of tasks: in editorial, these might include reading and reporting on manuscripts, fact checking, permissions research, and managing author correspondence; in publicity interns might contribute to writing press releases, managing mailings, list research and management, outreach to media, and arranging author tours; and, for those with skills in InDesign and Photoshop, typesetting and design might be an option. Interns also help with basic administrative work when they are physically in the office such as answering phones, photocopying, and mailing out materials.

Start date: January or early February preferred
Time commitment: 2-3 days/week for 3 month minimum
Salary: $17/hour
Requirements: Hard work, initiative, and a strong interest in the publishing industry and the Seven Stories' list are the most crucial requirements for thriving in this internship. Our list is particular--with a focus on social justice storytelling, literature in translation, political nonfiction, and more--and we hope to work with someone as dedicated to our mission as we are. Close attention to detail is also essential; never underestimate the ability to catch a typo. Pluses include knowledge of Chicago Style, experience writing and/or editing (especially with deadlines), familiarity with design software, and previous internships. This internship is open to current college/grad students and those who have already graduated. Scheduling is flexible, but we ask that interns be available to come into the office in Tribeca at least once per week.
Company: SEVEN STORIES PRESS
Location: Hybrid: 1-3 days in NYC office, remote on remaining days.
