Title: Special Markets Sales Associate
Description: We are looking for a tenacious, proactive, detail-oriented salesperson to help grow our Premium Sales business and manage our Author Sales channel.

Books are a powerful way to build consumer engagement and we are seeking a curious, creative, out-of-the-box thinker to act as a matchmaker between our books and brands, and to generate new business opportunities with consumer packaged goods companies, agencies and associations, financial institutions, pharmaceutical companies, travel and hospitality brands, community and campus engagement programs, early literacy initiatives, and more.

The Special Market Sales Associate will also work closely with key authors on their orders for new and existing titles (in close collaboration with inventory and production) as well as with publicity, marketing, and the Speakers Bureau on author event orders.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE JOB:

Excellent time-management and organizational skills. We publish thousands of books a year and strive to create innovative, thorough, and proactive outreach campaigns for all. And we work with thousands of active accounts, so strong organizational skills are a must.
Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. This job requires very close author contact and support, proactive outreach, and internal collaboration with our publishers.
Curiosity and an entrepreneurial spirit are at the heart of this role, as is generating new business by understanding how our books can offer solutions to a business or brand (often opening accounts and working with individuals who have never ordered a book before).
A love of books plus a particular interest in exploring new, non-traditional ways of selling them.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Develop new business opportunities by doing proactive outreach for titles/brands across imprints
Grow and maintain business with existing Premium and Author accounts
Create lead lists and pitch materials (sell-sheets, specialty catalogs, PowerPoint Presentations) for proactive outreach
Provide excellent support and customer service for our authors, including answering questions on inventory, pricing, title information, tracking, and more
Collaborate with multiple departments (including Production and Inventory)
Use CRM sales tool to manage and grow our customer database
Forecast quarterly and annual sales goals – keeping monthly progress reports
Requirements: KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED:

2-3 years of work experience
Strong written and verbal communication skills – should be comfortable communicating by phone, email, and in-person
Strong organizational, prioritization, and follow-up skills
Detail-oriented and capable to perform multiple tasks on a daily basis
Skilled at working both independently and collaboratively
Proficient with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
Ability to work with numbers and analyze sales

The compensation for this position is $60,000. Salary can vary based on a number of factors including skills, experience, and location — talk with your recruiter to learn more.
