Title: Publishing Assistant - (Non-Fiction)
Description: Diversion Publishing is seeking a publishing assistant who has at least 2 years experience in the publishing industry with a passion for nonfiction. Diversion Publishing is an independent print publisher that focuses on quality titles in categories such as current events, music, history, business, sports, true crime, and science. While we are a smaller publisher, it allows us to offer a valuable opportunity to work closely with our dedicated editorial team through all the various stages of the publishing process. The Publishing Assistant will offer day to day support to our editorial, production, and sales teams and in turn will receive an unrivaled view of the industry. The Publishing Assistant is a crucial member of our team at every step of the process. We are looking for a candidate who is eager to learn, collaborate, and has a voracious love of the written word. If you have a passion for nonfiction books and want to join the publishing industry, this is the opportunity for you. The position is a hybrid position with in-office responsibilities. We will consider candidates who can work from a commutable distance to the office located in midtown Manhattan. You will need to be proficient in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, Dropbox, and Adobe Suite; familiarity with Nielsen Bookscan and other relevant publishing platforms is a plus.

Salary $41,000.00 to $43,000.00
Requirements: EDITORIAL / PRODUCTION
* Maintain and organize each title’s editorial project folder
* Proofread book interior and cover files alongside editorial staff
* Assist editorial staff in agent outreach and scheduling agent meetings
* Assist blurb outreach with authors
* Assist authors on image collection and record keeping for books with
interior art
* Assist editorial staff in maintaining production schedules
* Perform upkeep of sales/distribution data system
* Help prepare book description copy and other sales assets
* Attend seasonal sales conference and book fairs

ADMINISTRATIVE
* Routine communication with authors
* Attend meetings, maintain agendas, and take meeting notes
* Receive, log, and read book submissions and maintain spreadsheet of
rejections/acquisitions
* Register books with the Copyright office
* Process book orders and income/expense invoices
* Assist other departments including production, design, marketing, publicity,
and accounting
