(ACADEMIC CREDITS ONLY) Who We Are Founded in 1949, ABRAMS was the first company in the United States to specialize in publishing art and illustrated books. The company continues to publish critically acclaimed and bestselling works in the areas of art, photography, cooking, craft, comics, interior and garden design, entertainment, fashion, and popular culture as well as narrative non-fiction and new works of fiction for adults; children’s books ranging from middle grade to young adult fiction to picture books to board books. Job Description This position provides general editorial support for the Abrams Calendar program. It is an excellent opportunity for anyone with an interest in visual storytelling and more exposure to illustrated publishing. Beyond editorial, the Intern will interact with sales, marketing, publicity, design, and production departments offering a broad introduction to the world of illustrated publishing. Responsibilities include: Researching image selections for calendars Drafting marketing copy and TIP sheets Preparing calendar manuscripts for design Managing digital assets Researching comparative titles in the marketplace Reading and evaluating layouts and proofs Overseeing special projects as assigned Providing general administrative support Required skills: Strong copyediting and proofreading skills Excellent research skills Proficient in Word and Excel Knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud a plus Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously: to meet deadlines, work independently and collaboratively, and to follow through consistently Demonstrated interest in developing editorial experience and learning about the publishing process Hybrid schedule ABRAMS is an Equal Opportunity Employer and does not discriminate based on an individual's sex, age, race, color, creed, national origin, alienage, religion, marital status, pregnancy, sexual orientation or affectional preference, gender identity and expression, disability, genetic trait or predisposition, carrier status, citizenship, veteran or military status and other personal characteristics protected by law.
