Title: Summer 2024 School & Library Marketing Intern
Description: Hachette Book Group’s summer internship program offers students an opportunity to learn about the publishing industry and explore an area of interest. To learn more about the company, visit our career site: https://www.hachettebookgroup.com/about/careers/

Program dates: June 3rd – August 9th (10 weeks)

Location: ON-SITE: This position will be based in our NY office on a two day a week hybrid schedule. Company laptop will be provided for the duration of the program.

Weekly schedule: 28 hours per week, Monday-Thursday, 9:00am-5:00pm

Pay rate: $16/hour

The School and Library Marketing department at Little, Brown Books for Young Readers promotes children’s titles to librarians and educators across the country through a variety of methods including targeted campaigns, conference attendance, print and online advertising, social media, e-newsletter updates, mailings, and more. As a Marketing Intern, you will have the opportunity to work closely with seasoned professionals and gain hands-on professional experience as you own day-to-day tasks, help with special projects, and attend departmental meetings.

To enhance your work experience, we offer educational sessions featuring speakers from all departments of the company as well as networking and career development opportunities.

What you will learn:
Researching national and state award guidelines; coordinating submission mailings and maintaining records
Researching curriculum development programs in each U.S. state
Marketing campaign brainstorming and content creation
Coordinating logistics for school and library conferences (booth arrangements, hotel reservations, shipping, and author travel)
Coordinating digital programming events
Writing and reviewing copy for advertising, promotional items, social media posts, newsletters
Managing departmental contact database and review copy mailings
Contributing to the planning and execution of School & Library marketing campaigns.
Coordinating departmental communications
Requirements: Who you are:
An individual interested in a career in book publishing
Self-starter with strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
Possess a great attitude and a desire to learn as well as excellent ability to multitask
Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Familiarity with Adobe Suite is a plus
