Title: Regional Indie Sales Manager
Description: We are seeking an experienced book industry sales professional to join our growing team as we establish an internal independent sales force.  We are hiring Regional Indie Sales Manager positions in the following territories: New England, Mid-Atlantic, South, Midwest, Southwest and Northwest (Please note that we do not offer remote work in California).  Applicants must reside in a metro area within the territory the Sourcebooks position will be responsible for expanding Sourcebooks reach, sales and MarketShare in their territory.    We are looking for talented and driven sales reps who are flexible, organized, outgoing, well-read and believe in Sourcebooks' mission that Books. Change. Lives. 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE: 

Growing sales in the independent bookstore market to exceed sales plans and increase Marketshare 

Growing POS volume to assigned goals 

Represent publisher with in person sales calls multiple times a year as well as participating in regional and national trade shows 

Establish and grow relationships with key independent bookstores, the ABA and regional independent bookstore associations 

Expanding the number of independent bookstore accounts ordering directly from Sourcebooks 

Curate individual title lists to fit the unique nature of each bookstore 

Reintroducing Sourcebooks essential backlist titles to the independent book market  

Securing prime placement, bookseller reviews, indie next nominations for Sourcebooks titles 

Creating regional and national bestsellers within the channel 

Inventory forecasting and revenue budgeting 

Work in partnership with the Retail Marketing department on sales promotions for independent bookstores 

Manage author events and book signings within your territory 

Requirements: REQUIREMENTS/SKILLS: 

Minimum 3 years book publishing sales experience, preferably with independent bookstores 

Excellent presentation, communication and interpersonal skills 

A driven goal-oriented and a collaborative team player with high attention to detail 

Outgoing in nature, comfortable navigating a sales call and proactively going after new business 

Highly organized with the ability to manage many projects at once 

Experience in setting and driving sales strategy to meet goals 

Proficient in standard MS Office programs, sales reporting and analysis  

Experience is forecasting and budgeting 

Extensive travel required, including overnight and occasional weekends 

Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred.  
Must possess a valid Drivers License and have reliable transportation.
