Title: | Marketing Copy and Content Writer |
Description: | Kensington Publishing is seeking a Copy and Content Writer to join our Marketing & Publicity team.
Reporting to the Director of Communications, this role is responsible for crafting engaging, polished, impactful copy across a range of industry and consumer-facing channels, including print and digital advertising, flyers and sell sheets, ARC packaging, catalog copy, short articles, email campaigns, content marketing, and more. Kensington’s offices are located in Manhattan, with most staff working on a hybrid basis (2 days/week in office), but we are open to fully remote candidates in the following states: NY, NJ, CT, TX, FL, IN, CA, NV, TN, MA, and IL. The compensation range for this position is $50 - $65k/year depending on relevant experience, training, location, and market conditions. BENEFITS INCLUDE • Medica, dental, and vision • Matching 401(k) program • Competitive PTO model • Week off between Christmas and New Year’s + additional holidays • Bonus and profit-sharing • Alternating four-day work week between Memorial Day and Labor Day RESPONSIBILITIES • From creative concepting through execution, develop the messaging and copy strategy for all marketing initiatives and channels. • Conceive, craft, and edit all marketing copy, developing clear, persuasive, and engaging messaging for both industry-facing (such as edelweiss / catalogs, sell sheets, ARCs, trade advertising, etc.) and consumer-facing channels (print and digital ads, email marketing, landing pages, promo materials, etc.). • Translate tip sheets and job memos into audience-focused, action-driving copy that fits the tone and goals of each campaign / author brand. • Collaborate with Campaign Managers and Editors to execute on all copy requests, ensuring adherence to brand and messaging guidelines. • Collaborate with Creative Director (Marketing Design) to create content that complements visuals and meets marketing goals. • Ensure quality control of all copy, proofreading and editing all work to ensure it’s polished and error-free before going live. • Conduct research to keep your content fresh, relevant, and informed by industry trends. |
Requirements: | QUALIFICATIONS
• 3+ years of experience crafting compelling, attention-grabbing, impactful, action-sparking copy. • Superior writing skills and ability to develop content that requires little to no editing. • Strong portfolio showcasing creativity and versatility across diverse content formats, with tangible results and performance metrics that demonstrate the impact of your work. • Must be a creative thinker, action-oriented, and able to adapt in a rapidly evolving environment, identifying problems and opportunities on an ongoing basis and taking effective action. • Talent for turning trending cultural moments into brand engagement opportunities, creating content that resonates with the target audience. • Proven ability to write short as well as long, from riveting movie-like taglines that encapsulate each book or campaign in fewer than 10 words, to full length blog posts or articles. • Exceptional proofreading skills and keen eye for detail. • Ability to take initiative on assigned projects/tasks and work with minimal supervision, fulfilling creative requests in a timely and self-sufficient manner. • Familiarity with A/B testing, audience segmentation, landing page optimization, and making creative choices based on data. • High level of familiarity with Microsoft Office, particularly Outlook, Word, and Excel. |
